“Return to Tomorrow”

“Return to Tomorrow” The consciousnesses of Sargon, Thalassa and Henoch have survived the end of their civilization. To construct android bodies, the three assume the bodies of Kirk, Dr. Mulhall and Spock. Henoch, however, does not want to leave Spock’s body. Spock’s consciousness seems to be lost when the bulb in which it was stored is destroyed. While Sargon and Thalassa hide in the ship’s computer, Henoch’s consciousness is lost because he has no place to go to. Spock can be recovered, since his mind has been transferred to Nurse Chapel in time. summary by Ex-Astris-Scientia

Say what you will but I quite liked the episode. Seeing Spock’s strange behaviour wasn’t the only attraction for me. Truth to tell, it wasn’t the attraction at all. What captured me about this episode was the alien personalities themselves. The concept of a few lone minds surviving the loss of the entire civilization is yet another of my favourite sci-fi themes. I feel for them. I wonder how it may feel to be left alone and continue to exist when everything you knew has turned to ashes centuries ago. Tell me more, please!
